The short version. Your photos, videos and projects stay on your phone. There is no account. We don't sell your personal information. Ads in the free plan come from Google AdMob, which collects device identifiers and approximate location for advertising. Pro subscriptions are paid through Apple or Google and checked by RevenueCat.
Station Cam is a camera app for road and construction crews that stamps the date, time, GPS position and road station on photos. It is published by Hozbaldo Silva ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Station Cam apps for iPhone and Android and the Station Cam website.
What stays on your phone
Photos, videos, projects and the station points you plot, notes, your name and crew, your company logo and your settings are stored on your phone. We don't receive them. If you allow it, new photos and videos are also saved to your phone's Photos. Deleting the app deletes what it stored, but not copies you saved to Photos or shared.
Location
The app uses your phone's location on the phone itself, to work out the station and to stamp coordinates, heading and a small map on your photos.
- Maps. To draw maps, the app downloads map tiles from OpenStreetMap (street maps) and Esri (satellite). Like any web request, this shares your IP address and the area being shown with those services.
- Street address. Only if you turn on "Approximate address" in the stamp settings, the app asks your phone's own address service (Apple's on iPhone, Google's on Android) for the nearest address to your coordinates. The website has no address stamp.
- ZIP code. When you start a project and type a ZIP code, the app sends that ZIP code to Zippopotam.us to center the map.
Those services have their own policies: OpenStreetMap Foundation, Esri, Zippopotam.us, Apple and Google. The app never tracks your location in the background.
Camera, microphone and photos
The camera is used only to take photos and videos you choose to take. The microphone is used only while you record a video with sound turned on. Access to your Photos is used only to save Station Cam's own photos and videos there.
Ads in the free plan
The free plan shows short ads you choose to watch in exchange for more photos. They are served by Google AdMob. Google collects your device's advertising identifier (on iPhone, only if you allow tracking), your IP address and approximate location, how you interact with the app and its ads, and diagnostic data. Google uses this for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Your choices: on iPhone, answer the tracking prompt or change it in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android, reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Where the law requires it, More › Ad privacy choices in the app lets you change what you agreed to. Pro has no ads.
The free plan's check-in
On the free plan, the app checks in with our server about once an hour when it has signal, and must do so at least every 3 days. Each check-in sends an ID for this install of the app (made from your phone's app install ID and scrambled before it leaves the phone, so it can't be turned back into it), the app version, the platform, and counts of photos taken and ads watched. Our server also keeps a scrambled form of your IP address to stop abuse. We use this only to run the free plan and its limits, and to check ad rewards against what Google reports. The server is hosted by Supabase. Check-in records are deleted after 90 days.
Purchases
Pro is a subscription paid through Apple or Google. We never see your card details. RevenueCat, our purchase service, receives your purchase records and an anonymous app ID so the app can unlock Pro and restore it on a new phone. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
The early-access list on our website
If you join the early-access list on stationcam.app, we keep your email address, the phones on your crew, and, if you give them, your role, your company and whether you'll test the Android app, along with the link that brought you and a scrambled form of your IP address to stop abuse. We use it only to tell you when the apps are out and to invite testers. It's stored with Supabase. Email us and we'll remove you.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, including the phone model the app adds to feedback, and we use it only to answer you.
Selling and sharing
We don't sell your personal information. Under some US state privacy laws, the ads described above can count as "sharing" for advertising. You can opt out with the tracking and ad choices above.
Children
Station Cam is a work tool and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. Ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences.
Keeping and deleting information
Information on your phone stays until you delete it or the app. Check-in records are deleted after 90 days, and the early-access list is kept until the apps launch or you ask us to remove you. For information held by Google or RevenueCat, see their policies, or email us and we'll help with a request.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date at the top.
